In August '72, I was honored to be Kathy's roommate our freshman year at Howard University. We became lifelong friends. Kathy possessed both physical beauty (pretty blue/grey eyes, gorgeous head of hair and legs that warranted a million-dollar insurance policy) and inner beauty (the sweetest nature, never speaking ill of another). Kathy fought cancer with grace and courage. I admired Kathy and I'll be forever grateful that she graced my life with her presence and love.

D'où venons-nous? Que sommes-nous? Où allons-nous? (Title of a painting by Paul Gauguin)
Translation: Where Do We Come From? What Are We? Where Are We Going?

The sweetest blessings to you my dear Kathy as you join your parents and sister in the presence of God. From God we come; to God we shall all return. AMEN!

I knew Kathy when we worked together. The last time I saw her was at a University of Virginia graduation. I heard someone yell Allan! Allan! on the Lawn and she ran up to give me a hug. She said her nephew lived on the Lawn and was graduating that morning.
